Who we are

Hornsey and Friern Barnet Constituency Labour Party (CLP) is one of the largest CLPs in the country. We are a diverse and very active organisation with a strong sense of community spirit. Our members come from all walks of life and backgrounds but are united in their desire to improve their neighbourhood and create positive social change in their communities.

All our members have the opportunity to contribute, campaign, and get involved in our activities. Our network of volunteers is a powerful resource that has been used to support campaigns and win elections around the country.

What we do

Campaigning

We organise campaigns to elect Labour candidates in local, regional and national elections. Campaigns usually involve canvassing, leafletting, and mobilising activists across social media platforms. As a large CLP in a safe Labour seat, we also support campaigns across the country, and helped six different parliamentary candidates win at the 2024 General Election.

Our campaigning achievements were awarded 'Best Campaign' at the London Labour Conference in March 2024 and ‘Best Twinned Team’ at the national Labour Party Conference in September 2024.

Community Activism

We strive to be a force for positive change in the community, and organise a wide variety of campaigns on issues that are going to affect our constituents. These vary from national or London-wide issues to smaller more focused campaigns within each ward. Campaigns can involve a number of activities from setting up street stalls and handing out leaflets to knocking on doors and conducting community surveys. In everything that we do, we use our network of Labour representatives to make sure that local voices are heard.

Meetings and Events

Our General Committee meets monthly and usually involves talks from Labour politicians and progressive policymakers. We use these meetings to vote on resolutions and motions proposed by members, discuss policy ideas, and coordinate fundraising and campaigning activities. Motions that are passed by our CLP are put forward to Conference and have the chance to become national policy.

Nominating and Electing

As a member of Hornsey and Friern Barnet CLP, you will play a key role in the selection of candidates for local and national elections.
